Resident Surveys

Your path: Monitoring | Resident Surveys
TOMM aims to survey the residents of Kangaroo Island annually.  Since 2000 this has been done using a market research company who conduct a telephone survey of approximately 400 Kangaroo Island residents (this equates to approximately 10% of the population).  Residents surveyed must be over 16 years of age and are randomly selected from an electronic phone listing.

The Resident Survey has been conducted annually on Kangaroo Island since 2000.  The survey includes a range of questions relating to resident opinions about tourism, the environment, development, government agencies and their lifestyle.

In 2004/2005 at the request of the TOMM Management Committee our market research company (Colmar Brunton Research) consolidated previous waves of research to fit neatly within each financial year.  Where possible tracking of these results has been presented on those questions where the question format was kept comparable across the past five years of the Visitor Exit Survey.  This information has been presented in one consistent format.  Rather than presenting each years report, this information is consolidated each year, reporting on trends and changes since monitoring began in 2000.  The most recent Resident Survey Report available is:
