Terengganu Costal & Island Study

Your path: Sustainable Tourism | Terengganu Costal & Island Study

In September 2005, the Terengganu Development Institute (TDI) appointed Sea Resources Management Sdn Bhd (SRM) – a Malaysian-based marine consulting company - as the project management entity to oversee the six-month ‘Terengganu Coastal and Islands Study (TCIS)’ with team members from KUSTEM, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and various private consultants to support this Study.

In March 2006 the TOMM Project Manager was contracted by Sea Resources Management to provide consulting services as part of the Terengganu Coastal and Islands Study (TCIS), aiming to:

  • Conduct a rapid assessment of the coastal zone
  • Develop an Island predicted performance report for Pualau Redang and Pulau Perhentian
  • Provide advice for tourism optimization on the Islands and within the coastal zone.

TOMM’s role in the project was to:

  • Present a workshop on TOMM concepts and the lessons learnt in the implementation of TOMM
  • Contribute to an Island Predicted Performance Report for Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian
  • Include observations upon completion of a field visit to Pulau Redang
  • Include suggestions for indicators and management, based on relevant TOMM experience

This project has been completed and further detail in available on the Sea Resources Management website.
