Terengganu Costal & Island Study

In March 2006 the TOMM Project Manager was contracted by Sea Resources Management to provide consulting services as part of a Malaysian Government funded project, Terengganu Coastal and Islands Study (TCIS), aiming to:

• Conduct a rapid assessment of the coastal zone
• Develop an Island predicted performance report for Pualau Redang and Pulau Perhentian
• Provide advice for tourism optimization on the Islands and within the coastal zone.

TOMM’s role in the project was to:

• Present a workshop on TOMM concepts and the lessons learnt in the implementation of TOMM
• Contribute to an Island Predicted Performance Report for Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian
• Include observations upon completion of a field visit to Pulau Redang
• Include suggestions for indicators and management, based on relevant TOMM experience

This project is still in process, and it is envisaged TOMM will continue to maintain links with the islands beyond the completion of the project.
