Other Economic Indicators
Two other conditions were originally included, which are currently not reported on, due to the difficulty in collecting accurate data:
1) The tourism industry is undergoing steady growth in tourism yield
2) There is minimal seasonal fluctuation in the number of visits to KI.
TOMM ceased collecting expenditure data in 2002, as the results were highly variable and not indicative of actual expenditure. This was possibly due to the different interpretation of these questions by Visitor Exit Survey participants. The TOMM Management Committee is currently addressing this issue and will determine a more accurate way to measure growth in tourism yield.
