Management Committee

In 1997, a Management Committee was formed to oversee the implementation of the TOMM and provide guidance for the overall direction of the project. A part-time project manager is responsible for the project's daily and strategic operations.  The Project Manager is also principally responsible for liaising with key Stakeholder Groups.

The Management Committee comprises of representatives from all project partners, the Kangaroo Island community and the Kangaroo Island tourism industry.

The Management Committee meets on a monthly basis with day-to-day communication between the Project Manager and Committee members. All Management Committee members act as ambassadors for the project.

The Committee members currently include:

Patricia Leewenburg / Fraser Vickery

Patricia is a Community Representative on the TOMM Management Committee.  She has worked in a variety of backgrounds including design, teaching, publishing, research and tourism.  She is very supportive of the TOMM concept and is keen to engender greater community support, whilst helping to further develop the environmental components of TOMM.

Fraser Vickery is currently replacing Patricia while she is away fom the Island. Fraser has a strong ecotourism background and he is currently a lecturer at an ecotourism course at the UNISA and he runs and ecotourism business on KI. He is also a board member of the Natural Resources Management Board.

Christine Wrench.


Christine is the Commercial Operations Manager of the Department for Environment and Heritage (DEH), Kangaroo Island Region. As well as managing many of the key tourism sites on Kangaroo Island, Christine provides an important link between the tourism industry and protected area management.

Craig Wickham.

Managing Director of Exceptional Kangaroo Island, and a Kangaroo Island Councillor, Craig is responsible for representing the views of both the community and the tourism industry. Craig has provided consistent input to the TOMM process having been involved from the outset.

Jayne Bates.

Mayor of Kangaroo Island, Jayne also operates a tourism accommodation business and is a member of the Tourism Kangaroo Island Board, she is passionate about the Kangaroo Island and is an important link to the Community.

Pip Masters.

Pip is a Community Representative on the TOMM Management Committee. She has entensive experience on natural resources management and she is currently working on the Natural Resources Management Board. She has been also involved in many community initiatives on Kangaroo Island. 

Claudelle Martin.

Claudelle is the new representant of TOMM at the South Australian Tourism Commission.  She provides an important link to the South Australian Tourism Commission, particularly their strategic components.

Jo Davidson.

Jo is a member of the Kangaroo Island Natural Resources Board, and has a background in natural resource management.  Her links to the environmental sector are important to the TOMM process. Jo also has a background in natural resource management, is involved in running a farming enterprise on the Island and owns a tourist accommodation business.

Pierre Gregor.

Pierre is the CEO at the Kangaroo Island Development Board. He encourages use of TOMM data for business planning purposes, maintaining triple bottom line principles.  Pierre also supervises the Business Sustainability Project with Village Green encouraging business to develop good economic, social and environmental practice and looking at how this relates to the bottom line for a group of small businesses on the Island.

Tania O'Neil.

Tania is the Marketing Manager for Tourism Kangaroo Island. She is responsible for the marketing and promotion of Kangaroo Island, and utilizes TOMM data to measure the success and impact of tourism on Kangaroo Island.  She encourages use of TOMM data for local tourism operators for business planning purposes, marketing, and business development.
 

Carmel Noon.  

Carmel is the CEO of the Kangaroo Island Council. Carmel brings to the TOMM Committee a wealth of CEO/general management experience within industries ranging from Tourism, Retail, Resort/Hotels, University and Medical. 

Tobias Mendelovici - TOMM Project Manager

Tobias brings a wealth of experience in tourism and environmental management and destination planing. He has been widely exposed to visitor management issues and has a proven track record of developing indicators for sustainable development.
